John Lewis Opticians

Updated: Jun 11, 2019

We have just completed working with John Lewis Opticians on the first in a series of optical concessions planned for rollout during 2015-17.  John Lewis Opticians Kingston opened on 5 November, offering brands including Giorgio Armani, Prada and Ray-Ban as well as a wide range of children’s frames. This new optical concession is part of its link up with Luxottica UK who will run the service.

“It’s been a great working partnership between the John Lewis design team, Innovare Design and Luxottica. Together we’ve brought top class eye care coupled with a range of world leading brands to John Lewis shoppers who rely on the very best in customer service and product assortment.” Paul Bate, Property Manager at Luxottica UK

Innovare Design won the design development tender following two successful trials earlier this year at John Lewis Westfield Stratford City and Cardiff department stores.

We have collaborated closely with John Lewis and Luxottica to build on the original trial concept and developed an open, airy and inviting space that sits well within the John Lewis brand. At Kingston the 100sqm service is on the first floor so the entrance portal had to be well defined and clearly visable throughout the store. In addition to a more space-efficient main sales area and consultation zones, material finishes have been rationalised to complement the John Lewis store environment. We’ve introduced coloured acrylics and accessible low level mirrors to define the Kids zone. The provision of two examination rooms, a pre-screening and contact lens teaching area and a back of house laboratory allow John Lewis Opticians to offer a full eye healthcare service.
